.southeast winds will increase and become gusty ahead of an
approaching low pressure system this afternoon. the winds will
produce high waves on lake michigan along with a chance of rain
and snow. the gusty winds and high waves will slowly subside late
thursday morning into the afternoon.

* winds...southeast wind increasing to 15 to 25 kts this afternoon. 
  southeast winds to 30 kts are expected tonight. winds will 
  shift to the southwest and should diminish to 10 to 20 kts 
  late thursday morning or thursday afternoon. 

* waves...building to 3 to 5 ft this afternoon and to 6 to 9 ft
  tonight. waves will slowly subside late thursday morning and
  thursday afternoon.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a small craft advisory means that wind speeds over 20 knots or
waves greater than 4 feet are expected to produce hazardous
conditions to small craft. inexperienced mariners...especially
those operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these
conditions.
