* through saturday morning
* occasional showers and thunderstorms will occur over the watch
area through at least dawn saturday morning...and for many
areas...will continue well into saturday. any thunderstorms are
expected to be very efficient rainfall producers and will lead
to widespread minor nuisance flooding with the potential for
more serious flooding over localized areas where heavy rainfall
can focus for a period of time. widespread rainfall amounts of 1
to 2 inches can be expected through midday saturday with locally
higher amounts.
* heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor
drainage areas...and ultimately dangerous flash flooding on
smaller creeks and streams. significant rises on larger
streams and rivers will also be possible.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible but not
imminent in the watch area. people in the watch area should be
aware of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
check your preparedness requirements...especially if you live in
flood prone areas. stay informed...and be ready for quick action
if flooding is observed or if a flash flood warning is issued.

...flash flood watch remains in effect through saturday
afternoon...
the flash flood watch continues for
* the missouri ozarks and portions of far southeastern kansas.
* through saturday afternoon
* showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will impact much
of the missouri ozarks tonight before ending saturday morning.
the heaviest rain overnight will occur east of highway 65 across
south central missouri where an additional one to two inches of
rain may fall. this rain falling on saturated soil...will
result in an increased risk for flash flooding.
* small streams...creeks...low water crossings and area rivers
will be especially susceptible to flash flooding.
those floating or camping on or near area rivers should be alert
for rapid rises of water levels.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
you should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
