...winter storm warning remains in effect until 8 am pst
thursday...

* locations...republic, inchelium, wauconda, chesaw road, 
  highway 20 wauconda summit, boulder creek road, sherman pass, 
  sandpoint, bonners ferry, priest river, eastport, schweitzer 
  mountain road, leavenworth, mazama, twisp, winthrop, stehekin, 
  conconully, blewett pass, loup loup pass, omak, okanogan, 
  brewster, bridgeport, oroville, nespelem, disautel pass, 
  colville, deer park, chewelah, newport, kettle falls, 
  springdale-hunters road, orin-rice road, and flowery trail 
  road.

* ice accumulations...up to a tenth an inch in the leavenworth and
  plain areas. pockets of a tenth to a quarter inch of ice may
  also occur around deer park, newport, chewelah, hunters, bonners
  ferry, sandpoint and cusick.

* snow accumulations...up to an additional 2 inches for the valleys
  of far north idaho and northeast washington. the methow valley 
  and republic area may receive as much as 3 to 7 inches of snow 
  by thursday morning.

* timing...periods of snow, sleet, and freezing rain are expected
  today and tonight. some of the heaviest snow will likely occur
  this morning and then again overnight. a brief break in the
  precipitation is expected this afternoon. another round of snow
  is expected tonight and mostly above 3000 feet in the northeast
  mountains and northern panhandle, but down into the okanogan
  valley and methow valley as well.

* impacts...travel will be impacted by snow and ice over most of 
  the inland northwest today and tonight.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a winter storm warning for heavy snow means significant amounts
of snow are expected or occurring. snow accumulations will make
travel very hazardous or impossible.

...ice storm warning remains in effect until 6 pm today for areas
below 3000 feet in the south washington cascades...

an ice storm warning below 3000 feet for freezing rain remains in
effect until 6 pm pst this evening.

* ice accumulation...another quarter to a half inch of ice is
  likely today...though ice accumulations will decreasing later
  this afternoon as precipitation becomes more showery in nature.

* affected areas...valleys in eastern and southern skamania
  county.

* storm total ice accumulations...generally three quarters up to
  two inches.

* impacts...heavy ice accumulation will likely bring down large
  branches and power lines. power outages may last multiple days
  depending on how widespread these impacts are. this event will
  add to the existing heavy snow and ice loading on
  rooftops...which may cause some rooftops to fail.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

an ice storm warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. significant amounts of ice accumulations
will make travel dangerous or impossible. travel is strongly
discouraged. commerce will likely be severely impacted. if you
must travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. ice accumulations and winds will
likely lead to snapped power lines and falling tree branches that
add to the danger.
