...river flood warning remains in effect for the st. johns river at astor...

recent heavy rains along with tidal effects and northerly winds that 
inhibit flow downstream are expected the keep the river nearly steady
in minor flood stage into the weekend. however...additional heavy rainfall
over the basin or upstream could cause further slight rises into late week.

  the st johns river near astor.

* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. 

*at 2.5 feet, water begins to cover docks at south moon fish camp.
water begins to move into yards in low lying areas along the river.

*at 2.8 feet, minor flooding occurs to homes and businesses in low
lying areas along the river.

a river flood warning continues for...the manatee river near myakka
head...the alafia river at lithia...the little manatee river at 
wimauma...the myakka river at the myakka river state park...the peace
river at arcadia...and the horse creek near arcadia...

.the rainfall amounts and coverage will be slightly lower today...however
additional rainfall today and runoff from the constant rainfall we have had 
over the past several days will keep local rivers above flood stage through 
the end of the week.


precautionary/preparedness actions...

do not drive cars through flooded areas...

stay tuned to developments by listening to noaa weather radio.

* at 10 am wednesday the stage was 9.6 feet
* flood stage is 7 feet
* the river will continue rising to near 9.6 feet by this afternoon then begin 
  falling.
* impact...at 10.6 feet...the walkway to the river gage floods.
* impact...at 8.5 feet...most of myakka state park is closed.
* impact...at 8 feet...the main road at myakka state park floods.
* impact...at 7 feet...trails, picnic areas, and parking lots at myakka state
  park flood.
* flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 8.1 feet on jun 30 
  2012.

  bridge begin flooding.
* impact...at 13 feet...river drive and squirrel run way downstream of state 
  road 640 are completely covered by water. one home begins to flood.
* impact...at 12 feet...water begins to affect river drive and squirrel run 
  way downstream of state road 640.
* flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 14.4 feet on aug 29
