a wind advisory remains in effect until 10 pm pst this evening for
the eastern sierra slopes.
* winds: west winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph.
* timing: winds are expected to increase this afternoon and be
strongest late this afternoon and evening...then decrease later
* locations: aspendell...whitney portal.
* impacts: strong crosswinds will make for difficult driving
conditions on area roads including highway 168. any loose
objects outside will be blown away. hikers and outdoor
enthusiasts could have trouble standing on exposed terrain.
a wind advisory means that crosswinds are expected to be strong
enough to make driving difficult...especially for high profile
vehicles. in addition...strong winds over desert areas could result
in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in
blowing dust or blowing sand. use extra caution.
