...gale watch remains in effect from saturday morning through
late saturday night...

* location...eastern long island sound and peconic and gardiners 
  bays.

* winds...northwest 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt.

* seas...2 to 4 feet.

* visibility...1 mile or less before 4 pm today.

* timing...visibilities will be less than 1 mile before 4 pm
  today. the strongest winds will be during the second half of
  saturday and continuing into the first half of saturday night.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 kt has significantly increased...but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. it is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.

a dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one mile. inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid
navigating in these conditions.
