.a very cold arctic airmass will push southward into portions of
eastern iowa and northwest illinois...tonight into saturday morning.
locations along and north of highway 30 will experience the coldest
temperatures. the combination of the cold air and northwest winds
of 10 to 15 mph will create wind chills of 20 to 25 below zero.

* wind chill...20 to 25 below zero.
* wind...northwest 10 to 15 mph.
* temperatures...5 to 10 below zero.
* impacts...frostbite and hypothermia are possible if precautions
are not taken. the cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as
little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds
will combine to generate low wind chills...resulting in frostbite
and hypothermia if precautions are not taken. if you must venture
outdoors...dress in layers covering exposed skin. frostbite will

* snow showers will develop along an arctic front later this
morning and continue into this afternoon. there may be a lull
in the snow mid to late afternoon before heavier lake effect
snow develops this evening and continues through saturday
afternoon.
* increasing northwest winds are expected to cause areas of
blowing and drifting snow.
* total snow accumulations will be highly variable...generally
ranging between 3 and 8 inches...with locally higher amounts
possible along and north of the indiana toll road.
* wind chills will fall to as low as 5 below to 10 below tonight
into saturday morning.

* snow covered slick roads and low visibilities due to falling
