...periods of heavy snow to continue through the afternoon...
snow...heavy at times...continues over the greater capital
region...eastern catskills...mid hudson valley...taconics...lake
george saratoga region...portions of the mohawk river valley...and
all of western new england. bands of heavy snow will yield snow
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour in some areas...and near whiteout
conditions are expected. snow totals will quickly increase...with
an additional 2 to 5 inches possible especially from the capital
district south and east prior to 3 pm.
snow covered roadways will cause slippery driving conditions
accompanied by poor visibilities. unless an emergency...please do
not travel on the roadways...and if traveling...please keep
emergency supplies in your vehicle.

inches per hour over the higher elevations...are likely to prevail
at times through 5 pm...especially in narrow more intense
snowfall bands.
total additional snowfall between 1 and 5 pm should average 4
to 6 inches...with locally as much as 8 inches over the higher
terrain.
travel will be extremely difficult. unnecessary driving is
discouraged.

a band of heavy snow will continue to sit over the region through
330 pm.
snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inch(es) per hour...additional snow
accumulation of 2 to 4 inches...and visibilities of 1/4 mile or less
are expected through this time. motorists should use extra caution
traveling in this area due to the low visibilities and snow
accumulating on roadways.
a few cloud to ground lightning strikes have been detected and
reported as well...and are possible over the next couple of hours.
lightning is one of natures number one killers. remember...if you can
hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning. move
to safe shelter immediately.
