...brief low elevation snow possible late friday afternoon through
friday evening...

another weather system is expected to drop south into southwest
washington and northwest oregon friday and friday night. initial
precipitation reaches southwest washington late friday morning and
then sags south in the afternoon. there is the potential for a
rain/snow mix or a short period of wet snowfall in the lower
columbia, interstate 5 corridor of cowlitz county, greater
portland and vancouver metro areas and west columbia river gorge
mid to late afternoon into the evening. little to no accumulation
is expected as surface temperatures will be slightly above
freezing. however, areas in the west columbia gorge and also
above 500 feet outside the gorge may pick up an inch. snow levels
will gradually rise through the night, to 500 to 1000 feet, due to
increasing south to southwest surface wind.
