Chicago Offshore Overview
Kiters are mainly using Montrose to kite. This plus the use of the Grenwood Beach launch point on Lake Michigan for Evanston's windsufers makes the Harrison Crib readings the most critical.

Data from this station is courtesy of the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory. Sensor operated by NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL). Chicago sailors and kiters use this sensor as a reliable source of wind data. It's located 2 miles offshore in one of the water intake cribs. Readings are published approx. every 5 minutes.
