...high heat index values continue across the area...

heat index values on sunday reached the upper 80s to lower 90s and
these same values will be reached today and tuesday across
northern new york and vermont. the heat index is a measure of how
hot it really feels when relative humidity is factored in with
the air temperature...which will be reaching record levels today
and tuesday. this will create a greater likelihood of heat related
illnesses...especially when prolonged exposure or strenuous activity
takes place in these conditions.

anyone with outdoor activities planned today and tuesday may be
more susceptible to heat related illnesses...especially if you
will be outdoors for an extended period of time or taking part in
strenuous activity. stay hydrated and take breaks in the
shade...check on elderly family or friends who may not have air
conditioning...and do not leave kids or pets unattended in
vehicles.
