...dangerous seas expected friday into sunday...
heavy west swell will build friday...peaking at around 20 feet
with a dominant period of 18 to 19 seconds in the afternoon and
evening hours. large breaking waves are expected at bar crossings
and in other shoaling areas. waves breaking much farther from the
coast than normal will increase the size of the surf zone. swells
of this size have a high potential of moving crab pots.
on saturday...16 to 18 foot west swell with a dominant period of
15 to 16 seconds will combine with short period wind waves of
around 10 feet generated by gale force winds. this will cause
dangerous wave conditions. moreover...due to the frequency of
significant storm activity in the region during this time
period...there will be an increased probability of rogue waves.
blowing spray and moderate to heavy rainfall will reduce
visibility making rogue waves difficult to spot.
