to 4 pm est friday...
* visibility...1/2 nm or less...occasionally near zero..
* impacts...navigation will be hampered by low visibilities
through thursday morning. wind and wave conditions will be
hazardous to small craft thursday evening through friday
if you must navigate...proceed with caution. use proper fog
signals. make sure all running lights are on. remember to use
your radar and compass.
during a small craft advisory...inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels...should avoid
navigating in hazardous conditions.

...dense fog advisory now in effect until 6 pm est this evening...
...gale warning remains in effect from 9 pm this evening to 10 am
dense fog advisory information...
* visibility...dense sea fog will frequently reduce visibility to
less than 1 nm. there will also be pockets of dense fog that
further reduce visibility to near 0 nm at times.
* impacts...the low visibility will make for treacherous
navigating conditions across the area waters...especially when
traversing the intra-coastal waterway...and local area inlets
to and from the open waters of the atlantic.
the use of coast guard aids to navigation...depth
finders...gps...and spot lights...are a few of the available
instruments to aid you when encountering this fog.
gale warning information...
* winds...after the arctic frontal passage early this evening
...winds will become northerly and increase to 20 to 30 kt with
occasional gusts over 35 kt.
* seas...will build to 4 to 9 feet tonight into daytime friday.
the highest seas will occur across the outer waters off cape
fear and cape romain. dominant periods will range from 5 to 7
a gale warning means sustained winds or frequent gusts of 34 to
47 knots are imminent or occurring. operating a vessel in gale
conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. it
is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience
seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
a dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one mile. inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid
navigating in these conditions.
