...enhanced fire danger this afternoon and early evening...
...patchy frost expected early thursday morning...

relative humidity will drop to around 25 percent for many locations
late today. this very dry air will present an enhanced wildfire
danger during the afternoon and early evening. any open burning
will be potentially dangerous and is discouraged. in addition...
kentucky state law prohibits burning within 150 feet of woodland or
brush land between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm during this time of
year. also...be careful not to discard cigarettes in areas where they
could start a fire.

patchy frost is expected late tonight into thursday morning. it will
be most prevalent in valleys. it would be a good idea to protect
sensitive plants in the normally colder locations.

humidity as low as 15 to 25 percent. sustained winds will be 10 mph
or less on average...especially on ridgetops and in more open terrain

addition...kentucky state law prohibits burning in or within 150 feet
of woodland or brush land between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm during

...late season wet and heavy snowfall possible over northwest upper
michigan...

a broad low pressure system moving east out of the northern and
central plains on thursday will spread precipitation across upper
michigan late wednesday night through friday morning. while
confidence is high that there will be precipitation...whether this
will be in the form of rain or snow remains difficult to pin down.
at this time...it appears a mix of rain and wet snow will overspread
upper michigan west to east on thursday but then transition to mainly
snow over much of northwest upper michigan by early evening. the wet
snow may then fall heavy at times on thursday night...especially
over the higher terrain...before the precipitation diminishes early
on friday morning.

at this time...the best bet is the heaviest snow will fall over the
higher terrain of the keweenaw peninsula...where the current forecast
shows as much as 6 to perhaps 8 inches accumulating through friday.
over the rest of the higher terrain northwest of a line from about
marquette to crystal falls...2 to 5 inches of wet snow appears likely.
the wet...heavy nature of the expected snow will make shoveling and
snow removal very difficult.

given the large uncertainty on the precipitation type that will
accompany the passage of this low pressure system...stay tuned to
later forecasts and possible advisories or warnings for this evolving
early spring winter storm.
