Has anyone seen brown colored stingray like fish in the sound in the outer banks? I just came back from sailing there and thought I saw several of these creatures approximately 24 in diameter with stingray like tails. They seemed to move quickly. I always thought the sound was home to only very small critters.

Have seen many schools of stingray this year in the NC sound (Nags Head) I heard the sound has alot more salt which produces more clams , which means dinner time of the Stingrays. No wind for days in nags head Bummer.......

The brown fish where probably Skate fish. Don’t know much about them except I here of them being caught on the piers, I think they are harmless. I heard of a shark bite in what was described as the middle of the Pamlico, a swimmer from off a boat, and around the inlets is feeding grounds so I guess anything is possible. But I’d worry about some of the small critters, like Jellyfish!! Plenty of them right now.
