Your sites readings are consistently wrong on the Potomac. Because of the fronts that bring in our wind, the wind direction is often is out of the NW. Your wind meter is definitely not sited well for this direction. I suggest that you compare it to the data gathered by the NWS via Ronald Reagan National Airport: http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KDCA.html.
For yesterday (already rolled off most data):
6 PM (23) Nov 05 52.0 (11.1) 33.1 (0.6) 29.99 (1015) NNW 9
5 PM (22) Nov 05 55.0 (12. 33.1 (0.6) 29.98 (1015) NNW 10
Oldest 4 PM (21) Nov 05 57.0 (13.9) 32.0 (0.0) 29.97 (1014) NW 18
Your readings at that time:
4:00 pm 4mph, gusting to 11.
It would be nice if you would either get the airport data or place a few more meters to give us decent info. Most of us locals check the tower info to figure out where to go and when. |

Thank you. We will be adding this NWS data source to our (very long) list of projects. Very good tip, and we appreciate it.
