Take a look through www.mauisurfandturf.com We rent from Andrea everytime we go to Maui -She had some great smaller cottages or beach house units available. We have stayed at the northshore beach house which is next to Alberts, Aina Lani, and Rays - all are really nice, and the perfect sailing location!!! |

Ive been on regular windsurfing trips to maui for a decade. On our last trip we stayed at kahana-kai. It fronts the north shore up the beach from kahana (uppers). The house is traditional hawaiian style with a large lawn. It is part of a mega million dollar estate (i.e., not cheap to rent). Ed Angulo (dad to mark and josh) lives inext door in another cottage on the estate. My wife and I agree that it was the most romantic, lovely spot that weve ever stayed in on maui (that includes suites at the 4seasons and Ritz and many other north shore digs). It is already booked for all next summer, but you may be able to get it in the shoulder months. To see the view from the front porch, log onto windcam.com (no wwww). It is close to the airport, so some jet noise, but thats unavoidable on the n. shore until paia. Oh, not to kill the romance, but a shark seriously injured a windsurfer at Kahana a few weeks ago.... be careful out there. |

I think youre talking about Kanaha ... its the windsurfing area near the airport ... Kahana is also on the north shore, but the west side rather than the east side. (near the Kaanapali airport rather than the Kahalui airport [the main one]).
Ah, the beauty of a 13 letter alphabet! |
