I had the occasion to check out the new boards from BIC during my last trip to Maui. I wanted to know if BIC had addressed the problem of the footstraps twisting on all their boards. They havent !!!!
It is unfortunate because BIC boards have great shapes, very strong construction and come with excellent fins.
When the footstraps twist, they lock on your feet and can result in injuries that can be prevented by putting four screws per footstraps or designing an anti-twist device that work. This would add only a few cents to a few dollars to the price of each board.
The worst damages to the company is the fact that I cant recommend any BIC boards for anyone until this problem is resolved.

Im a bit confused by your post. As a former owner of 2 Bics, I had the use of stock (as in, they came with the board) anti-twist washers for the footstrap screws. They seemed to work great for me... I dont believe Bic has discontinued them, as I recently helped someone install the straps on her new Bic, and washers were still being provided... |
