Where can I rent WS equipment in NYC?

I just moved to Manhattan last year. No car, no gear. If I want to windsurf, is there somewhere I can rent and launch without having to rent a car just to windsurf?

I just moved to San Francisco from NY a few months ago. I used to take the LIRR train out to Amagansett (couple hours) then get a taxi over to Napeague Harbor. There was a guy renting boards right by the beach.

If you have less time than 2 hours train ride and taxi, you can also take a train to Norwalk CT, take a taxi to the Norwalk sailing school and they have rental gear at reasonable prices. The whole trip should be about 60 mins. Call information to find out prices. The rental gear looks OK but not the newest latest stuff.

I was about to post the same question when I saw your message. Did you get to check out those places? There is also something called Windsurfing Hamptons (http://www.w-surf.com/index_2000.htm), although I have no idea how to get there without a car. I have one though, so if you need a lift in the weekends send me an e-mail (toma812@yahoo.com)--I go surfing every weekend.
