This may sound stupid, but would sunblock help protect monofilm sails from UV damage?

Yep. But so would paint, and it would be a LOT less messy. Instead, why not use stuff MEANT to protect plastic from uv, such as ... plastic protectant, available from most auto parts stores. 3M makes one called .... are ya ready? ... 3M Plastic Protectant.

Has anyone tried this method? How much protection does this provide? Will painting the sail damage the cloth? Thanks...
