You Can contact any of the Realtors here on hatteras island. There are a lot of places availiable to rent right on the sound. most of them offer great slalom sailing right out your door.

major cottage rental companies on Hatteras Island: Midgett Realty, Hatteras Realty, Outer Beaches Realty, Sun Realty - check out their websites. Fall rates are almost 1/2 off. Not many soundfront are available during the spring and fall so you have to reserve early. Soundside, oceanside, and oceanfront are so plentiful that you dont even need a reservation. Partial week and shared house rates are available. If you interested in camping, email me.

Best slalom sailing on the sound...Avon north thru Rodanthe is good on SW to N, Buxton south to Hatteras good on W thru NE. There are other sites around KDH, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head plus Corolla - all are good on SW to N.

Actually, The further north you are the windier it will be in the fall. Stay at the holiday inn at Nags head and sail Nags head or Duck. Duck has stronger frontal winds and slightly deeper water, if you like ramps.

we stayed in waves in one of those mansion like houses real cheap that time of year u just need a bunch of people to do it with or try to hook up with someone who is already set-up with some space, we had a gr8 time for like 100 bucks each for the week and the sailing was gr8 also
