Jalama working on south winds/winter storms?

Hi,

Does anybody know if Jalama is also working on south winds/winter storms? I'm from the Bay Area, so it's not that easy for me to swing by and check. Would be awesome if somebody could share their experience.

Been there a few times in SSE frontal, but seemed way too onshore, stormy, choppy.... kinda like HMB outside the harbor on S wind.
I passed, a few guys went out, pretty miserable rain, wet, cold.
Timing on this storm is iffy.
I'd consider closer to home like Stinson or Limantour, so if timing is bad, a short drive is wasted.

Do you know if there is any spot better suited for south winds in SoCal?

Any spot with no big surf and clean wind.
SoCAL gotta be San Pedro, but wind is not always strong, so there's your problem.
Mission Bay.
Perris.
Newport on ESE when no swell.

In the Long Beach area, Belmont Shore actually can be pretty good on a SE storm wind. In San Diego, C-Street can be very good on South storm wind. Cabrillo and Seal are sailable in south winds but Belmont is usually a better option.

Hi, for those interested. I just want to give a quick follow up.

I've eventually been to Jalama on Wednesdas 11/15. I didn't do all the drive just for the storm, I needed to head down to LA anyway for work.

It was actually not bad, 4.2 winds, high surf and cross off conditions.
I'm not saying it wasn't super gusty, I'm not saying it wasn't gnarli to get out.
But, I had some pretty decent DTL sections!

Unfortunately there was no other windsurfer, just one kiter who eventually gave up fighting the shore break. So I played it kind of safe and tried to get off the wave before it gets consequential.

I defenetily wanted to share this. Maybe there will be somebody else next time. It's always nice to have some company.

Here you can get an impression of the line up. and my wife was able to snap me from the webcam.

Great you got side off winds.
This storm is extremely easterly direction, unusual for sure.
Straight East winds in SF.

Nice score! Congrats getting Jalama on port tack. That place is a commitment with the long road in and out.

For Bay Area south or south south east wind spots, you can add: Pescadero on smaller waves - stay to the north side of the beach, if you go south the water is shallow and current impossible. There are also some rare days at Linda Mar as well, but avoid the surfers! HMB Pillar Point Harbor is good for blasting high wind and, if you are brave you can venture out of the harbor and ride the big ocean swells just below Mavericks.

There are many days of float and ride NW wind at the usual Santa Cruz coast locations. These days are usually a few times a month and can be hit or miss, but when they hit can be pretty epic big wave days.

This past Sunday was NW 15-24 mph winds at Bodega and Tomales.
Thanksgiving was 10-16 mph from 2-4 at Berkeley.
