What are the best trade wind directions for windsurfing on Oahu?
NE would be dead onshore in Kailua?
Need E or ESE for Diamond Head?
Thanks,

Kailua, you take off from the SE end of a curving beach, so it's side onshore with more on. Lots of beginners get trapped and pounded by the shorebreak both heading out and coming back in.
DH does like some N in the wind to get more sideshore.
Most Easterlies are weak on the windward side, so Moks past Haliewa is favored.
The North Shore, Backyards, favors NE.
Lots of calm days all around the Island can favor a weird, local NW breeze at Kahuku to Crouching Lion, including BrighamYoung Beach.
The airport on the Pearl Harbor side used to be a good slalom site on N windsz.
I haven't been there since the early '90's. |

Sorry. True N to NE shore can get a local N wind, that does'nt seem to hit the rest of the island within strength. |
