Blu/back lasts me 20 days.
White Formuline about 140.
3 bucks vs 11. Your choice. |

White for downhaul only, easier to slide and release tension when derigging. Black blue makes a more direct outhaul connection with the power however may get chewed up depending on boom / way to thread it. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Which is more important to you, RTZ ... a line that will outlast anything else hands down AND make downhauling easier AND prevent rig damage and/or a long swim, or a cheaper line? I've been running the same white lines for at least a decade. They still look and perform almost like new on all my base extensions and outhauls. Peace of mind is priceless. |

Been buying on Ebay for a couple of cycles of use, every 3 years buy 2 downhaul lines. There seems to always be at least one seller selling at a reasonable price plus shipping, less than a stand-alone purchase at one of the online stores. |

i sell FSE Robline Super Downhaul Line Dyneema 3.8mm
https://www.sunsetsailboards.com/products/dyneema-line-3-8mm
It is basically the same thing as Marlow Formuline, just from a different rope supplier.
I use this stuff for everything... downhaul, outhaul, inhaul, etc... It is a braided line with no core. The Chinook stuff has a core and you get creep overtime where all the braid bunches up on one end. The Super Downhaul Line is better IMO and has a softer feel that doesn't kink. Lasts foreverish. Does NOT work in Duotone Power.XT extensions. It does work really well on Duotone Uni.XT extensions, esp for loop and go downhaul. The extra smooth glide makes down hauling w/ only 4:1 purchase easy, and it also uncleats very easily.
Shipping on stuff like this is about $2.50 which isn't bad, especially if you're buying more than one piece [/i] _________________ Kevin Kan

Strictly white forumuline. Yes it lasts a lot longer but I find the principal value is in easier downhauling, making rigging and precise tuning easier. When my forumuline downhaul starts to show a little wear I flip it, as the chewed up portion is just a small section of a typical five foot downhaul. Then when both ends of the downhaul line are sufficiently worn I move it to the outhaul position (much less stress there.)
And don't forget the optimum downhaul threading pattern. From an old blog post: https://www.peconicpuffin.com/the_peconic_puffin/2007/03/easier_downhaul.html _________________ Michael

This is how I normally lace up the down haul. Will that pattern on the website work when the pulley is turned? I tried it like it shows and numerous variations and I couldn't get the line routed satisfactorily or tell any difference in the resistance. How does that way increase the pulley leverage?
