i first tried foiling on Robert's/dvcali's "frankenfoil" modified JP slalom w/ NP flight (pink). it was incredibly difficult, and I could only manage short flights, but it was only my first time, so I didn't think much of it.
Later I tried the Slingshot Wizard 105 w/ H2, Fanatic Gecko w/ Fanatic Flow H9, Slingshot Wizard 150 w/ H2. I was comfortable flying on all of those and tried the frankenfoil for shits and giggles... it was still incredibly hard to ride, even after I had learned to ride OK on the other stuff. I'm amazed Robert ever learned to foil with that setup (been two years + now I think). The whole kit was horribly unbalanced. Robert said that upgrading to a JP Foil board also made a huge difference. Suddenly everything was in the right place.
tl;dr proper setup/compatibility is important

@ Lucaro - sounds like you heavily weight the back foot, but doesn’t this lead to easier breaching ?
Also I’ve heard that duck jibing on a foil is easier than regular jibe?

I think I put my back foot in front of the opposite back strap. Duck jibing I think is neither easier nor harder if you already know how to do it on a regular windsurfer and your technique is good. I think some of it is situational, but duck jibes feel super sweet and are really fun.
