As you may have figured out the eddy has made forecasting way more difficult in recent years.
Today there was no hint of eddy action in any of the models or satellite imagery at dawn. However, the pattern made me suspicious so rather than hitting the water for an AM 4.2 sess I kept watching the satellite imagery.
Finally, I issued a special update at 9:42 AM changing the numbers for almost every site in the Bay Area. Why?
Watch the fast birth of this eddy in the satellite imagery below and its equally fast violent death west of the Golden Gate. If the eddy had died midday. We would have seen strong wind inside for Crissy and near the 3rd. launch and Pt. Isabel, Larkspur etc. would have been much weaker.
