The Navy is at it again digging up the area near the launch. They are saying access will be allowed through the fence on weekends. There may be a way to walk out to the cove along the perimeter road (fingers crossed). See figure.

Here's one journalist's perspective about what's going on in Treasure island. This article is from the Bay View newspaper and was written by S. Auden:

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

Great timing as always. If anyone is keeping track, the Navy Base closed 22 years ago. Somebody is making a lot of money off the US taxpayer on this never ending cleanup boondoggle.

Be glad you don't live out there.

The launch area is not closed; however, it is inaccessible through North point Drive Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm (excluding holidays) beginning on July 1st and ending on September 27th.

Access to the boat launch during those work hours will be via Perimeter Road (see attached figure on page 2 of the work notice).

Access is available on the weekends

Please plan to park on the Northeast corner of Bayside Drive in front of previously demolished buildings 1211 and 1213. The area will provide ample parking and uninhibited access to Perimeter Road.
