To me changing to US Box on 1 broken and 1 good box would be a last resort.
I think I would make my own slot box first. |
Thanks for the information in your last post. I emailed Matt he is looking through his stock to see if he has one. I emailed Chris as well but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. It is strange with Slot Boxes being so common its so hard to get replacements. One saving grace is that I can get the box water tight with JB Weld epoxy put a blank in the box and sail the board as a thruster. |
You don't even have to do that, just put a piece of Gorilla tape over it, make sure it's clean first, no salt.
The stuff is amazing, clear is best, great for small dings, and great for sails also. |

Keep in mind I'm talking a temporary fix until fixed properly, it gets you out onto the water with no worries. |

I did just that, when I realized the fin and box where f'ed up I went to the beach. I cleaned and dried the box and surrounding area and ran a strip of Gorilla tape across the box to seal it up. I put a thruster fin setup on and went back out. The tape was gone by the time I finished up 2 hours later. Gorilla tape has always worked well on surface cracks and small dings but I think the open void of the fin box is to much air space for the tape, it might also have something to do with the amount of air leaking through the cracked fin box. Love the stuff just no right for the temporary fix, I usually have Marintex in my bag, I forgot to replace it last time my buddy used it all up. |

Only tape that sticks is aluminum tape used in ducting, NOT ducttape. |

I'm referring to the clear Gorilla tape, the stuff is the best IMO. I thought not using duct tape was settled case law? |

The use of tape, Alligator, Duck, clear, chartreuse, metallic OR has been in use for temporary repairs. I feel silly that I have all these repair items in my tool /spares boxes.

Pro level sailors sometimes use alum tape, NOT ducttape, on boards not sails. |
