Casey, thanks for the article.
Will you please talk a bit more about the "full-blown out rocker" on some SUP crossovers and how that makes them unsuitable for WWF? Is it too much tail rocker, nose rocker, or rocker through the whole bottom shape that's the problem? These boards also seem longer than most WWF boards. Is that a disadvantage too? Does this mean that crossover boards really won't either SUP or WWF very well? |

yes exactly crossover boards wont do either very well. All crossovers and surf sups have some kind of rocker to perform on a wave. Surfing and foiling are completly two different things. surf sups use rocker, rails and bottom shape to flow thru the water. Foil boards you want them to be completely allergic to the water and for them to get up to speed as fast as possible. A crossover/sup will take a ton more energy to get flying and if you touch down when flying it feels like your dragging an anchor. also when it comes to foiling the shorter the board the more performance/reactive the ride is. |
