Weighing 160 lbs these days. 7.5 camless on a 70 cm wide board (it's 109 liters but WIDE). Been sailing 26 years and I'm efficient. When I was less efficient I sailed an 8.8 on a Techno as my big board. Whatever it took to plane in July and August.

Biggest gear I OWN? 115 L Mistral Syncro, 6.2 sq meters, Columbia River Gorge, 180#.
That board and my 103 Syncro are for emergencies only ... slack days between windier days when I'd rather stay at the launch site than drive home and back (70 miles/60 minutes each way). They might get used 2 or 3 times per season.
Snobbery? Nope.
1. If I need more liters or square meters to plane, there's no swell. I'm out there for the swell.
2. 7.5s are tiring at my age to throw around like a 3.2 for hours on end.
Thus my real, practical upper limit -- the biggest gear I USE often -- is 96 liters (a few boards in that size) and a rangy 5.2 ... the 6.2 if the wind is steady enough to produce swell.

Largest windsurfing gear actually used in last 2 years: 250 L Fanatic MegaCat (93), 10.0 Gaastra RAF, weight 185 pounds, most used spot George Wyth Lake, George Wyth State Park, Waterloo IA. Most used: Kona One 220 L, Kona 8.2,
(I also have a Kona Hula 264 L which I loaned to a beginner 2 weeks ago, and 3 big sails I haven't used in the last 2 years: 12.0 Aeotech, 11.0 Aerotech, 10.9 North Warp.)
Largest landsailing gear: Kahuna Creations Bombora (59" x 14" deck), usually used with 5.6 or 6.0. I think it could handle a lightweight 8.0 to 8.5; I haven't had it long enough to try. Favorite spot: parking lot north of UNI-Dome & Wellness Center at University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls IA.
My smallest windsurfing board is 135 L AHD Sea Lion (8'3"). My smallest sail used for windsurfing in the last two years is a 4.7 Waddell. My smallest sail used for landsailing or ice sailing in the last two years is a 3.4 Rushwind.
Technically I have an 85 L Sandy Point Progressive Sports board which came to me 10 years ago as part of buying out a windsurfer, but I've never attempted to sail it.
