4. What the so-called conservatives miss is that the government should not be the entity that decides to enforce discretion that exists in a sports team. That is indeed creeping fascism--and exactly the kind of behavior that conservatives wouild go bonkers about if Obama had tried it.

You may need to explain how the government is the entity that is deciding to enforce discretion. Trump is offering up an opinion, but it's the left, like you that spins it, as in your above statement. The NFL should and has set their rules governing their teams and players regarding the National Anthem. So be it. Now the fans and sponsors can decide how much support they choose to give to their teams.

The logical fallacy in this is that the most powerful man in the world (and the least qualified) is acting as a non-governmental entity exercising his own free speech rights when he attacks African-American athletes and urges that their free speech rights be abrogated and that they be fired.

I am constantly amazed at the amazing rationalizations you guys come up with to support fascism and racism.

Using taxpayer money for political purposes is a huge no-no.

ya and they should have been fired for defacing public property especially if they did the work while on the clock.

I think this falls a wee bit short of explaining your previous statement:

It appears to me that the government is not deciding to enforce discretion in sports teams, maybe in the liberal mind, but not in reality. Plus you apparently missed my support of the "take a knee" protests. Go for it and see if accomplishes anything other than shrinking the fan and sponsor base.

Techno--I know what it takes to change things in government, and protests by football players are pretty low on the effectiveness list. My objection is to the double standard used by most conservatives about what kinds of speech they are willing to protect. And whether or not they can see any problems with the President putting his finger on the scale. The fact that he has not sent out goons to enforce does not mean his comments are appropriate, or normal.

How do individual Antifa brawlers saying on camera that they would slaughter the president if he showed up escape both government and lamestream media attention?

Under U.S. law 18 U.S.C. § 879, “whoever knowingly and willfully threatens to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm upon” the president or anyone else protected by the Secret Service can be fined, imprisoned for up to five years or get the package deal of a fine plus jail time.
