Are the times for the ebb and flood at Sherman on the iwindsurf site accurate for the Access or Sign? I remember years ago some locals had a different set of tables that they said was more accurate. Any insight from regulars there?

When buying a yearly Rio Vista Windsurfing membership, you receive a season tide table for Sherman Island. I always found it fairly accurate and quite comprehensive in its detail. Why not drop by Delta Windsurf and buy a membership.

A more current (no joke) version may be slightly more accurate than a yearly published one, but not by much. I might check with a marine store thats local.

Sailing at the Sign, I find the current generally changes about 45-60 minutes later than what is published. When using the app, I simply plug in “Rio Vista” and the numbers are pretty close.

I have always wondered how the varying release rates from all the dams upstream affect the tides and currents at Sherman Island.

Since tide tables are available years in advance, they must be printed using average flow data, meaning that some variation is to be expected when the flows are above or below those averages. Perhaps the effect of changing one dam's release rates is too small to notice once it joins with all the other tributaries as the water makes its way down the Sacramento Valley. One would think that there would at least be a difference between a wet year when the river is swollen with spring runoff and a dry year when water managers are trying to release as little as possible.

Does anyone have any insights?

To answer this properly everyone needs to be on the same page.
Are we taking about the tides, high and low?
Or are we talking about the currents, ebbing and flooding?

The tides are the tides. Not much alteration and mathematically calculated from the positions of the earth and the moon.

The current and water level can vary.

Strong floods and ebbs take longer to reverse.
