Which 150L board for a heavyweight?

Yes, a few chuckles were had. Despite the fact that GT and I have
never met in the flesh, I think we understand each other pretty well
and a bit of ribbing is likely. I was on Maui not too long ago, ........
so for GT, my "hooter" is well dosed, thank you very much, and I
didn't need no steenking center board to get such. ;*)

The rest of the video is pretty worthless, but the last 30 seconds are what piqued my interest. That board looks a lot like my Avanti (although it might be the Whopper which is shorter and not quite as wide). Sure looks like it's planing. I also noticed they added 2 straps. Wonder how hard that would be to add to mine? NSI makes some stick on foot strap mounts. Hate to bugger up the deck pad though...

Looks like Starboard is bringing back the WindSUP option for the 2018 Avanti SUP. The board shape and fin locations are the same as my board. Note the forward side biter location for windsurfing. They act like a dagger board and aren't canted so don't add much drag. That plus a 12" slalom fin gets me upwind pretty well with my 8.0m or smaller. Haven't tried anything larger than that on the board.

beware surf board rockers. they are far more likely to be on something that is a SUP that might, as an after thought, have a windsurf attachment.

side bites that far forward do what to turning off a rear fin, if one could get a surf board oriented board planing? think of them as daggers, in some demented form. doesn't a dagger resist a planing jibe?

Haha, I agree GT - centerboards are GREAT.
I have several boards with them.. and several boards without them.
For those only doing (or mostly doing) only one kind of sailing that doesn't use them, well that's fine. But there is a whole world of diverse windsurfing out there... and CB's make a lot of it, more fun. Not that all sailors are supposed to "like" those other styles or wind conditions, of course not... to each their own. Just saying "don't automatically diss" windsurfers with CB's, haha!!

Sir, your suggestion signifies past experience on your part, which belies your indignant claim the you don't need no stinking centreboard! (Must our illusions of your super human windsurfing ability be shattered!)

But I concede that such lapses can sometimes be unavoidable. Though I, at least, carry the proper tool for the job on my longboards - a split powerfull carbon kayak paddle which is more efficient, faster, and doesn't involve lop-sided paddling effort.
