Stands in stark comparison to the buffoon in charge, golfing and glorying in the money he is making violating conflicts of interest laws.
Quote: | Obama’s Final Numbers
Statistical indicators of President Obama's eight years in office.
By Brooks JacksonPosted on September 29, 2017
The numbers are nearly all in now. What they show about what really happened during the eight years that Barack Obama was president is sometimes different from what politicians claimed.
The economy gained a net 11.5 million jobs. The unemployment rate dropped to below the historical norm.
Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 4.1 percent after inflation. The gain was 3.7 percent for just production and nonsupervisory employees.
After-tax corporate profits also set records, as did stock prices. The S&P 500 index rose 166 percent.
The number of people lacking health insurance dropped by 15 million. Premiums rose, but more slowly than before.
The federal debt owed to the public rose 128 percent. Deficits were rising as Obama departed.
Home prices rose 20 percent. But the home ownership rate hit the lowest point in half a century.
Illegal immigration declined: The Border Patrol caught 35 percent fewer people trying to get into the U.S. from Mexico.
Wind and solar power increased 369 percent. Coal production declined 38 percent. Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuel dropped 11 percent.
Production of handguns rose 192 percent, to a record level.
The murder rate dropped to the lowest on record in 2014, then rose and finished at about the same rate as when Obama took office. |
This is the summary from Factcheck.org. You can see the full article here: http://www.factcheck.org/2017/09/obamas-final-numbers/
It includes a number of fair criticisms of Obama, but the overall performance is vastly better than we can anticipate for the orange fool.
The most telling criticism, to me, is the amount of debt it took to get the economy going again. Classic Keynesian economics--which would now suggest that with virtually full employment (despite far right spin), the time for some belt tightening and modest tax increases is now. Both effectiveness and equity suggest that the middle class should pay more as they use the lions share of entitlements, which, with the military, account for about 67% of the budget. A massive tax cut for the very rich and corporations will increase the deficit, and tax us all over the long term through inflation, or more precisely in today's economy, a weaker dollar. But greed remains the cornerstone of GOP policy making. |

Obama didn't accomplish a thing..
Based on guidance from the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services has concluded that there is no appropriation for cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies under Obamacare. In light of this analysis, the Government cannot lawfully make the cost-sharing reduction payments. The United States House of Representatives sued the previous administration in Federal court for making these payments without such an appropriation, and the court agreed that the payments were not lawful. The bailout of insurance companies through these unlawful payments is yet another example of how the previous administration abused taxpayer dollars and skirted the law to prop up a broken system.

Why don't you give proper credit to the source that you plagiarized in the above post? |

Steve...if you're going to plagiarize the legal scholar better known as Sarah Huckabee Sanders, please at least use quotations.... |

Boggs, you know the courts found this CSR payment to be unconstitutional. It would be as if Trump raided the department of state and appropriated the funds for the border wall. |

A federal district judge did. An Appeals Court or the SCOTUS will likely not. The Insurance companies will sue HHS and win, and they will get the money anyway...as the states will pick up the tab in the ER, as they did before OCare was enacted. A person cannot be denied care in the ER...These subsidies , coupled with OCare allowed poor citizens a way to afford(with tax payer help) up front insurance costs...
BTW -- I have no doubt in my mind Trump will circumnavigate Congress to fund the stupid wall. |

I guess not Steve. The payments will go forward, the Senate will pass a bill, and Trump will sign it(flip flop), and UNH is at another all time high...Winning Bigly...I guess. |

Two top officials at the political research firm behind a salacious dossier alleging various Russian connections to President Trump's campaign invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination before the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday.
Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch and top lieutenant Thomas Catan were subpoenaed to appear before the committee in a closed-door session on Wednesday but asserted their right not to testify, a source close to the matter told Fox News.
Fritsch and Catan took the Fifth on every question posed by committee members. Another co-founder, Glenn Simpson, is under subpoena for a later date. |
