The Park foil crew in HR looks to be having a blast. Have not windsurfed since 2001, but foil may bring me back for post work sessions to mix it up. Kitefoiling now and it's a hoot! How does water starting play into this due to using much smaller sails? I really hate to uphaul...

Thanks,
Eric

When its windy you'll have no problems water starting, just be careful of kicking the foil with your feet.

Get over your aversion. Consider it a chalange and deal. IMO the benefits of having the smaller sail i.e. Non water start able makes up for the uphaul pain.
Plus you won't have to go to the gym that day.

You want to uphaul in light winds. If it's windy enough to waterstart you may be on too big of a sail once foiling.
However 50% of the time in the Gorge here I do waterstart if there's enough wind.

Small sails on big boards make uphauling a non-event.

Or just foil like Tony L and never miss a gybe, duck gybe, 360, etc. He was ripping at The Park yesterday. Fun to watch. Inspired

I definitely want to do some foil windsurfing. Seems pretty cool! I've just been too busy with high-wind windsurfing and other sports, so I haven't gotten started on foiling yet. But I'm sure that I will, eventually. We do a lot of light wind family sessions, so I haven't forgotten how to uphaul!

Got a look at the Naish foil. Looks like the Slingshot H5. No wonder it's so easy to get on a plane. I believe the H5 is for surfing.
