Really depends on your local conditions. Secondary would be your access to lessons.
The ideal first introduction board is quickly outgrown in a few hours so it's best to either borrow, rent or skip it. |

Thanks grantmac,
How about the Hook? Just want to throw the occassional visitor down there with a decent beginner board. I have the Starboard Go, but it frankly does not track very well for beginners. |

Your Go doesn't have the center fin position?
Anyways since you are on a place where any beginner will be looking to transition down to a shortboard (rather than a longboard) I'd say something like an inflatable WindSUP just for the first couple of hours then right onto the Go. |

No, such thing as ideal.
Only ideal aspect in windsurfing is a fat wallet.
You may think about the boards use after the initial phase is complete..say 5-7 years..lol..
Can it be used as a light wind platform ..sell off..
Lots of volume, center board retract into the deck, wide, a ASA deck that will be strong _________________ K4 fins

Go to the hook and rent one of the many beginner boards that are located there by Big winds or other rental companies. Better yet get your friends a lesson from one of those and do them a big favor.
Then you don't have to lug one of those things around and tie up thousands of dollars on a board that is used just a few times a year.

Recently picked up a Goya Surf and really like it. Had a fanatic viper but prefer the Surf. Lighter, easier to handle on land, and sails really well. We bought a larger fin (34cm) and it made a big difference once you get beyond the basics. |
