I've seen a used board that had some transport damage and has been professionally repaired. Is there anything to look out for on board like this when you use them? Are they likely to get soft on those areas or are repairs as good as new with the materials used these days?
Generally, how often can you repair dings, cracks, gouges without having any water leaks or future problems? |

I would suggest reviewing the Boardlady's website.

When it comes to professional repairs that someone else has done in the past, there's always a bit of mystery in that. The more you know the better. |

Greetings Mr Keyboard,
Sometimes repaired boards are stronger after the repair (at least in the
repaired area). I usually figure a board isn't worth repairing if the
cost to have it professionally repaired is greater than it's worth, but it
depends on how much you love your board. In my opinion, boards that
have buckled aren't worth repair because a good structural repair
leaves them a lot heavier. A board which is filled with water
is in my opinion doomed to delam eventually, even if you get the water
(mostly) out of it. I usually retire boards when they develop heal dents,
because they're going to buckle eventually in the footstrap area, and
finbox structural issues tend to get me looking for a new board rather than
have the finbox (and it's associated support) replaced.
Digs and cracks though, even major nose damage, if repaired (correctly)
before the board takes on water, should be plenty good for long hard use.
Transport damage is usually of this kind.

The quality of the repair, photos before during after...?
The majority of your questions beg for more questions.
A sound repair....how large ..where..with what materials the repair is done
If it's the nose and it's substantial , likely to reoccur. _________________ K4 fins
