Was out there two weekends ago all was fine gates open. Was out there yesterday and they have locked it down and reconfigured the fences and it does not look temporary. So who knows what this season will bring.

There was a guy (Devon?) who knew where to find the contractor in charge of the gate. Can someone refer me to him? If I knew who to talk to I would do it myself. I think the contractor doing the cleanup work just needs to be reminded to open the site Friday pm.

Just heard back from our Navy project contact, Chris Yantos, that they were delayed in getting their work done due to the heavy rains but are hoping for a mid May completion. (party time!) Till then they will open the gate Friday afternoons as they have done in the past.

The gate is currently open. The construction in this area is complete with all fences down adjacent to the parking on Northpoint Ave. Where there used to be apartment buildings, there is now a large grassy lawn. Unfortunately, there is still a fence between said grassy lawn and boat ramp. Hopefully for not much longer.

Thanks for posting the picture of the beautiful new grassy area where the black mold boxes used to be.
Wow! The TI launch could be really amazing. The apts were a wall blocking the bay. Now that area is open to the bay..a gorgeous bayscape instead of all that toxic Naval broken concrete wasteland we have passed through all these years to launch there.
I'm excited!

Look at all that grass for kite launching.
Let the invasion begin.

With the improvement of the launch, I think we all need to get our arms around the concept of kiters showing up. After some years of issues at Crissy, we generally get along and share beers and bbq with them. From a safety standpoint, it is nice having a few more people on the water in case something does go wrong.
Even with the grassy launch, that boat ramp is a really difficult technical entry and exit into the water that will likely dissuade all but the most experienced kiters. Most of them like big areas of sandy beach under their toes.
