Hi Gang,
I need some information from long time Larkspur customers regarding a sensor issue. You can mail me at mikeATiwindsurf.com
Thanks,

Larkspur usually reads a little low, but most regulars know to look at CorteMadera and San Pablo Bay in S winds for a bigger picture.
I sense wind direction affects the sensor more than actual reading speeds.
Still, when it reads 21 in the gusts, I"m on a 5.5 just like in Berkeley's reading of 21 in the gusts. |

Mike:
We were having trouble with the CM channel sensor this summer. Wind would be a steady 25-28 mph from the south but the sensor would drop to 7-10 mph and shift direction. ( the sensor was wrong)
These inconsistencies were documented and emailed to Stuart on the days the errors occurred.
I too cannot access your email but you can contact me if you need more data.

Hi Gang,
We get a lot of spam from full e-mail addresses on the forums. So just substitute an @ symbol for the # symbol in:
mike#iwindsurf.com
The issue is not about correction factors or the CM channel sensor.

Fog or rain S is best for sailing the entire basin.
SE can be good well outside and very inside, but the middle can be holey.
SW also, the same.
WNW works pretty good at high tide and slalom gear.
Straight E's seldom get strong enough consistently to plane.
N of you're adventurous, slog out towards Ferry Terminal, jibe and slog downwind to middle of the marsh when you start to plane. Sail out towards Richmond as it get's choppier outside, the slog home the same way in the opposite direction.
Just bad on NW or NNW. |

I sailed Larkspur probably more than most. Been sailing there since 1981, along with Zirtaeb. It's where I learned everything I ever learned. I like it because you can sail upwind and you have a lot of real-estate to work with when you're trying moves. Plus it's an interesting place to sail, very scenic. Water is usually warmer than most places.
In my opinion, the ideal wind direction for Larkspur is SSE. However sensors change over time so experience is the best bet
