Awesome. Waiting for water to get into the 40s here...shouldn't be too long.

Well, that's about what it felt like when I landed. This one had the potential to be a killer forward, but......when the wind is SW, like it was that day, the direction of wind and swell can vary by about 20 degrees; seemingly at random, and I was already having a little trouble hanging on with the cold water and being overpowered in the gusts, so I nailed the take-off on this perfect steep piece of chop, and as soon as I whipped the forward....nothing happened. So I'm immediately like, "Shit....I took off way further into the wind than I thought I had....please, God, let me at least land on my back." So I'm sheeting in and pushing the nose as hard as I can downwind, and it finally started to rotate faster about the time I went -SPLAT!- on my back. Thank God I was going like mach 4 and that was a big ramp, cause I at least had plenty of time to rotate that far around.
Looking forward to next week: possibly two days of near 80 degree temps and 20-30 mph south wind. _________________ Kansas City |
