A bud drove 190 miles each way, on a two-lane blacktop over the continental divide in New Mexico, for one breezy day. He loaded his giant Econoline cargo van with gear based on the forecast of 20 mph. It blew 40ish all day. He didn't get to sail the brand new, just-arrived, Gorge-sized shortboard he left at home to save gas and space. In fact he didn't get to sail at ALL because it was too windy for the big slalom gear he took.
