Three ‘Boogaloos’ Conspired to Hijack George Floyd Protest and Spark Bloodshed: Feds

Quote:
Three Nevada men with prior U.S. military experience and links to a right-wing extremist group conspired to set off explosives at a recent protest against police brutality to “create civil unrest and rioting” and spark violence between police and protesters, federal prosecutors say.

Stephen Parshall, alias “Kiwi,” Andrew Lynam, and William Loomis are each being held on a $1 million bond for terrorism-related charges.

According to a complaint filed by the Nevada U.S. Attorney’s Office, the group was “potentially planning terroristic activity” when they brought Molotov cocktail materials to a Las Vegas protest over the death of George Floyd.

All three have identified themselves as members of the “Boogaloo” movement, an extremist group that dreams of sowing discord to spark a violent uprising and government overthrow, according to prosecutors. The group also boasts military training: Lynam is described as a member of the Army Reserves, Parshall was a Navy sailor, and Loomis was an enlisted member of the Air Force.

Quote:
Parshall, Lynam, and Loomis turned their attention to the riots and protests that erupted in May after the alleged murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. They attended the demonstrations while armed, taunting police, according to the FBI. The complaint states that Parshall became upset when no violence occurred, as he felt he needed physical conflict to enact the plan.

Prosecutors say they planned to execute their plans against the backdrop of widespread protests to “create civil unrest and rioting.”

“They wanted to use the momentum of the George Floyd death in police custody in the City of Minneapolis to hopefully stir enough confusion and excitement, that others see the two explosions and police presence and begin to riot in the streets out of anger,” the complaint states.

They allegedly brought Molotov cocktail materials—gasoline in glass Calypso lemonade bottles and ripped rags. Law enforcement found shotguns, fireworks, assault rifles, extra ammunition magazines, and flammable hairspray in their vehicles. They had intended to target police and protesters.

Leaders call for civility after GOP lawmaker's verbal attack on Ocasio-Cortez

House leaders in both parties moved swiftly on Tuesday to promote civility - and tamp down lingering tensions - by challenging a conservative lawmaker who had accosted a liberal Democrat on the Capitol steps a day earlier.

Confronting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Monday, Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) had called her "disgusting" and "out of her freaking mind" for promoting the notion that poverty and unemployment have spawned a recent uptick in crime in New York. Moments later, as he walked away, Yoho referred to her with a crude, sexist slur.

Rudy Giuliani promotes long-debunked image of Ilhan Omar ‘at al-Qaeda training camp’

Quote:
Rudy Giuliani has once again posted misinformation about Rep. Ilhan Omar on social media, sharing a meme that falsely claimed the congresswoman was seen at a terrorist training camp.

The president’s personal lawyer tweeted a debunked meme that included a photo of a woman holding a gun, along with a caption that falsely claimed the woman was Ms Omar (D—Mn).

The meme spread across far-right corners of the web last year, despite the photo having been taken three years before the Somali-American congresswoman was born.

According to PolitiFact, the image was captured on a military training campus in 1978 and showed “a woman recruit of the Somali Army” — not Ms Omar, who born in 1981 in Mogadishu, and whose family later sought asylum in the US.

Minneapolis Police Link ‘Umbrella Man’ to White Supremacy Group
Neil MacFarquhar 4 hrs ago

Quote:
Minneapolis Police Link ‘Umbrella Man’ to White Supremacy Group

The tall man, dressed head to toe in black, including a black gas mask and a black umbrella, can be seen in a video wielding a sledgehammer as he calmly smashed the windows of a Minneapolis auto parts store.

: A man with a gas mask and an umbrella began breaking the windows of an AutoZone store in Minneapolis with a sledgehammer in May.

Within hours, the store burned down A man with a gas mask and an umbrella began breaking the windows of an AutoZone store in Minneapolis with a sledgehammer in May. Within hours, the store burned down.

The scene was one of the first widely shared images of wanton destruction to emerge from the protests in Minneapolis after George Floyd was killed by the police there. Yet the figure remained mysterious. He was given the nickname “Umbrella Man” and became the subject of online conspiracy theories.

The Minneapolis police unsuccessfully tried to identify the man based on a glimpse of facial features seen in the bystander video. But after receiving a tip about his identity, they used other photographs, including a driver’s license, to zero in on a suspect who they say has ties to the Hells Angels and a prison biker gang.

In a search warrant affidavit filed in Hennepin County District Court on Monday, the police requested cellphone records that would establish the suspect’s whereabouts on May 27, when the store was vandalized. They have not charged anyone with a crime.

Erika Christensen, an arson investigator with the Minneapolis police, wrote in the affidavit that the vandalism “created an atmosphere of hostility and tension” two days after Mr. Floyd’s death. It unleashed a chain reaction of arson and looting in the Twin Cities, she wrote, after protests had been relatively peaceful.

“In a short time after the front windows are broken out in The AutoZone, looting started,” the affidavit said, noting that the AutoZone store burned down later that day. “This was the first fire that set off a string of fires and looting throughout the precinct and the rest of the city.”

The affidavit asserted that the suspect, 32, hoped to instigate racial unrest. In addition to smashing the windows, it said, he spray-painted a message on the doors that encouraged looting. The store was on the opposite corner from the city’s Third Precinct building, which protesters later burned after the police abandoned it.

The suspect “wanted to sow discord and racial unrest by breaking out the windows and writing what he did on the double red doors,” the affidavit said.

The man’s name and telephone number were listed in the affidavit, but a man who answered a call to that number said, “You have the wrong number,” asked to be sent a copy of the affidavit and then hung up. A lawyer who represented him in a previous case did not respond to a request for comment.

The suspect is a member of the Hells Angels and an associate of the Aryan Cowboys, a prison gang in Minnesota and Kentucky, the affidavit said. Neither group could be immediately reached.

The Trump administration has often sought to blame the vandalism that took place during nationwide protests on leftist agitators. Attorney General William P. Barr claimed that “in many places” the protests were led by “far-left extremists,” but there is no evidence that anti-fascists coordinated demonstrations.

In the aftermath of the unrest in Minneapolis, a cross-section of officials, activists, business owners and residents have suggested that some of the destruction resulted from a breakdown in governance. They say the mayor and other local leaders, many of them relatively new to their roles, failed to anticipate the intensity of the unrest or put together an effective plan to manage it.

right wing hero the gomer gets it from his daughter with both barrels...

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/rep-louie-gohmerts-daughter-chides-him-for-not-wearing-a-mask-before-coronavirus-diagnosis/ar-BB17wqbQ?ocid=msedgntp

Rep. Louie Gohmert's daughter chides him for not wearing a mask before coronavirus diagnosis

Quote:

The daughter of Rep. Louie Gohmert publicly rebuked her father for not wearing a mask and ignoring medical expertise before he tested positive for coronavirus last week.

"Wearing a mask is a non-partisan issue. The advice of medical experts shouldn't be politicized. My father ignored medical expertise and now he has Covid," said Caroline Gohmert, a musical artist who goes by Caroline Brooks and also uses the stage name BELLSAINT, in a pointed statement on Twitter Friday, two days after her father's diagnosis was made public.

"This has been a heartbreaking battle bc I love my dad and don't want him to die," she continued. "Please please listen to medical experts. It's not worth following a president who has no remorse for leading his followers to an early grave."

CNN has reached out to Gohmert's office for comment.

His daughter's comments -- which her agent, Ryan Vaughn, confirmed to be authentic on Monday -- come after the Texas Republican tested positive for the virus last week, prompting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to announce new rules requiring masks on the House floor and renewing a debate about access to testing for members of Congress and their staff.

Gohmert had been scheduled to fly aboard Air Force One on Wednesday with President Donald Trump to Midland, Texas, but he tested positive for coronavirus during a pre-flight screening at the White House, a person familiar with the situation told CNN.

A senior Republican aide told CNN the test results caused issues on the Hill where "a lot of staffers" were ordered to get tests before they can go to meetings and resume activity.

Dr. Anthony Fauci criticized Tucker Carlson on Friday, saying the Fox News host "triggers some of the crazies in society" to threaten him.

Fauci, the top US infectious-diseases expert on the White House coronavirus task force, made the comment in a wide-ranging interview with The Washington Post's Geoff Edgers on Instagram Live.

When asked whether he had heard of Carlson, Fauci said: "He's the guy that really loves me, right?"

Edgers went on to recite various criticisms the Fox News host had made of Fauci in recent weeks — such as "Unelected Fauci has been leading this country" — and asked if it bothered or concerned Fauci.

Fauci responded: "I'm not concerned about what he says. It's a little bit — I think you could say that when he does that, it triggers some of the crazies in society to start threatening me, actually threatening, which actually happens."

Fauci and his family were assigned personal security after receiving threats to him and his family last month.

He told The Washington Post on Friday: "I mean, who would have thought when I was in medical school doing things to save people's lives, I'd have to be going around with a security detail? That's really ridiculous."

In the interview, Fauci also said that he does not pay attention to people who appear to idolize him, saying: "I actually don't pay attention to that, because that can really be distracting. I mean that sincerely."

"I don't see the hero part, and I don't pay attention to the death threats and harassments either. We live in an extraordinary society where public-health issues become so politicized and divisive that when you start talking about prudent things to do to preserve public health, that's actually considered by some — hopefully a really small minority — by some as something worthy of threatening you. That's really bizarre."

You can watch this segment in the video below. It appears around the 16-minute mark.

He also defended White House coronavirus czar Dr. Deborah Birx from the criticism she has received in recent weeks, saying she has a "very, very difficult job."

Earlier this month, she came under fire from both sides of the political aisle.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Birx had "enabled" the president and has not done enough to confront his baseless coronavirus claims. President Donald Trump later tweeted that Birx "took the bait & hit us" by offering a grim assessment of the US outbreak.

Fauci was also asked for his opinion on Dr. Scott Atlas, the newly-hired White House coronavirus adviser who has vocally criticized lockdown measures, and called on schools and college football to restart. Fauci said he only met Atlas a few days ago and would not form an opinion of him until he works with him more.

He also criticized the country's division over public health — contrasting those who follow health rules and those who see "public health as an obstacle to opening the country," and mask-wearers and anti-maskers.

He said: "It should be society pulling as a whole to get this darn thing under control.""

Fauci also said that he last spoke to Trump "just a couple days ago" when he briefed the president on vaccines, seemingly dispelling the idea that Trump was sidelining him.
