If you need a fin to try I have one. When I got my RW , the one that came with, wasn't making it. |

Have given up on the XL due to cash flow. Trying to get my red fish to work. The blue fish is a great board but the red fish is SOOOO draggy. In any lull the board falls off a plane. Tried different main fins: no help. I need massive power straight down wind to get it to go. The thrusters on the red fish have almost 0 can't while the blue fish has 10 degrees or so. Strange. Next step is taking the thrusters off. Does anyone fight the same problem? |

The Aug. 1 Bob's Beach Pot Luck is also the Inaugural "Vintage Day". I will bring my XL Open Ocean!! You can ride it only if you promise to give it back. Everyone with a sense of humor, bring your oldest treasures. Pass the shrimps on their old junk. |

Excuse the dumb question, but not knowing your sailing skills I gotta ask: Don't you mean in a broad reach? ANY board needs to be massively overpowered to initiate planing at or near straight downwind, and it's still difficult. |

Ridden a lot of boards over the years. The only thing that may be more draggy than the red fish is a multi thruster and main fin gorge animal from back in the day. |

Are the thrusters glassed in? If not, take them out and put in a bigger main fin. Thrusters and tri fin setups work really well in wound up high wind conditions. They drag like an anchor is light marginal wind. |

Sounds like someone never rode a Bonzer, or at least never learned to power them right. |

Thanks for the offer on the 130 XL Westender. I should be there on Saturday. On the red 259 fish front I was able to remove the thrusters (someone had swapped right and left) and replace them with inserts fashioned out of some 1/4 inch plexiglass. We'll see if that improves the draggy bitch. I can't imagine that having the cant wrong on the thrusters would make that much difference seeing as they are so small. |
