Anatomy of a great Combo day: SW and NW flow

Hi Gang,

For much of the bay and coast yesterday, Tues. March 30, was a solid wind day with winds ranging from the upper teens to mid 20's or stronger. Although Berkeley and Pt. Isabel were up and down.

Since we forecast Tuesday's winds 3 days in advance you might wonder what events trigger this combo of NW and SW flow you see in the video below.

Where do you get those gradient graphs? Seems like they'd be useful on the site.

Hi Harris 52,

I have a proprietary Weatherflow page that generates the actual and the forecast pressure gradients for many locales relative to SFO. But you can get the basic information here:

Remember that the pink forecast pressure gradient line is from just ONE model so in some pattens it will be off.

Mike--those are the best tools yet. I often compare pressure readings between Treasure Island and Sherman to get a sense if its going to blow at all, or get to big wind. That line of graphs does it, and would be a great link to click on directly.
