Its hardly a new innovation:: Jager Stone has been riding this shape for over a year.

The large companies always want you to believe its the next best thing to sliced bread as they replicate the shapes of those fringe companies.

SO YES ITS INTERESTING, NEW HARDLY

Either Google is getting really good at posting articles related to my interests or this just happens to be the first news article I've seen on Google news related to windsurfing, forever, regardless of it's newness. Laughing

I had a chance to try Starboards version of this shape (Black Box) in Maui two summers ago. Incredibly loose and fun but you really need some big rolling swell (offshore) and big mushy type waves to enjoy this shape. It planed very easily and was quite fast on the open water but took a little time getting used to the stubby nose when adjusting your feet placement during sail transitions - very easy to sink the nose at first. You also need good steady wind to make these smaller sizes work. Be interesting to try one of these in a 95 - 100 liter size if they go that route.

That's really neat, and definitely new to me so I appreciate you posting. I wonder how it will change freestyle in waves. I imagine certain things would be easier (like spins) and some things trickier, or at the very least requiring learning new balance points. I'd love to try one of these.
