I remember a dude at TI who had tracked his session with his smartphone. It drew a line on a map tracing where he had sailed.

Do any of you have a screen shot of one of these sessions? I'm working on an app design and any references would help.

Cheers...

John

There's an engineer at Berkeley, off the racer's lot, who uses his GPS to plot his exact path, the number of runs, and the distance he sailed that day. Tom something, old read Japanese wagon with a Thule rack on top. Takes a few minutes to show the graph of every run.
Are you the John Armitage who used to come into Berkeley Board Sports in the later '90's?
I'm the mid height Asian guy who Steve Yong hired in '95, who hired Ben Bamer.

Hi John: I sail mostly with a Garmin Foretrex 301, then process the data with GPS Results, which gives you - amongst a wealth of other details - your track, which you can superimpose upon Google Earth - very cool!!

You can use your smart phone in any waterproof case and track your course, Max speed, average speed using a number of different apps, but my recommendation is Runmeter (from Abvio) which will graph everything.
It is available at the App store. It's cheap maybe 5 or may be $10.
You don't have to be very computer savvy to use this simple app. It does tend to use battery.

Hi All, Boris hit 39knots, or about 45mph at HMB yesterday.

It was fun from 3:30pm to 5pm for me on 4.7/OPed

Hey Superkraut, can I use your tracking images in my book? I can credit you or leave them as anonymous.
