|
|
We learned today that John died of an apparent heart attack while riding his bike near his auto repair business in Hood River.
John was an avid and skilled windsurfer, mountain biker and telemark skier. He repaired many Subarus in the area.
We had the good fortune of having John as a neighbor at the end of the road. We went on a bike ride together one day and he took me down the old irrigation pipe running along side the Hood River. Awesome ride.
We will miss you John. |

Paco was my Subaru mechanic for many years. He always did right by me. He was very focused on helping people who showed they cared a little bit about the "how's" and "why's" of auto repair. He really took a long look at your situation and tried to go out of his way to explain the various options. I felt like he got emotionally invested in each project that came his way. Sometimes this resulted in a falling out with customers that didn't jibe well with the type of "tough love" that Paco could deliver. Most of us however, could see that Paco *really deeply cared* and was always trying to help...
Paco shared my deep love for the mountain, the wind and the trails. We always had too much to talk about each time I brought my vehicle in for a check up.
My son just got his first car, a Subaru, two weeks ago and we proudly brought it in for Paco to see. My son got to meet his first mechanic and shake hands w/ a legend. It's something I'll never forget. We'll miss you Paco...

I remember Paco as the mechanic who kept the old Windance demo van running for years. He was also one of the Hood River regulars up at Meadows for mid-week powder turns in the mornings before heading to work in the afternoon. He will be missed... |

Paco was among my very first acquaintances when I moved to Oregon. He was always stoked to sail! So long and CU Sailin' Paco! _________________ CU Sailin' |

Paco was such a dear. I first got to know him as a great mechanic, but quickly came to enjoy his company as a quiet, sweet, sincere guy. He never missed an opportunity to get out on the trails, the mountain and most of all, the water. Evening sessions won't be the same without that blue Ezzy catching a downwind ride. RIP, Paco. |
