Oh man, why did it have to be snakes.
Australia is a wild place. |

Nearly everything I see about Australia makes me less enthusiastic to ever go in the water there!
However, I've actually seen three snakes while windsurfing in Texas (in salt water). The first time was one of those marginal, sometimes planing days and I was schlogging in a large lagoon when a 4-foot snake and I noticed one another (either a rat snake or rattler, I was new here and hadn't learned to ID them yet). It turned toward me and swam my way and was probably less than 10 feet away when I got an incredibly timed wind gust that sent me planing out of there. The other time I was in our bay and saw two snakes about a foot long swimming together. We all minded our own business and everyone went home happy. |
