Right now I'm driving a '02 XC70 with 150K on it. Looking to upgrade. Problem is, not many vehicles that I know of can do what it does. I can lay 4 sails, equipment bag, mast bag, and two boards inside, and have the smaller passenger seat be open. The front passenger seat and rear passenger seat fold almost flat when you remove the seat top. The car gets decent mileage (22 average) as well. Only problem is, a trip to the mechanic is at least 500 bucks.

Looked at a Pathfinder but seats don't go flat, very truck like, and lousy mileage. Just wondering if anyone knows of a vehicle that does it all like the Volvo...At this point, I've probably talked myself back in to getting another! PS, no minivan, not ready to go that route yet. Thanks.

My MINI Clubman works well for me, but not like your Volvo.

I can get masts, three sails and booms inside, and two boards on top. I get almost 40 mpg.

But, if you can put boards inside your Volvo, you have a winner.

You can't beat a Volvo wagon as far as wagons go.

Honda Element, they stopped making them a couple years ago, unfortunatly.
You can get AWD and the front seats fold flat. The rear seats can easily
be taken out to make cavernness room to carry 3 short boards inside. It gets up to 25mpg hwy with AWD but it's somewhat underpowered compared to Volvo turbo.

Ford Flex is another option, also AWD available. Front and all rear seats fold flat to the same level making a massive long cargo capacity for 2 boards inside maybe3 with reduced visibility. It gets upto 23mpg hwy with AWD.

btw, i have the dodge promaster diesel on order. should get it soon. the gas version 159" wb gets 22 mpg when i putt-putt around (virtually never) 18.3 when i'm grinding it out.

I had a 1999 XC-70 and later a 2005 Outback wagon. The Subaru had similar cargo carrying capability. 4 sails, 3 masts, 1 boom, 1 board and other misc. windsurfing stuff fit inside easily. I could also get my road bike in the Subaru with the windsurfing gear.

Mazda CX5, close to 40mpg, everything will fit inside.

We just got the new Mazda 3, 40mpg, not for windsurfing but just travel and business, totally love it, only 20K.
