Don't want to jinx them but the forecast looks gooood for wind and waves!! Hope the live broadcast is working good. It kicks off tomorrow!
Surfline says:
North Pacific: We are keeping a close eye on a storm that is currently tracking from the Bering Sea to the Gulf of Alaska. If this continues as forecast, then we'll see a fun size pulse of NNW shifting North swell (340-360°) build in on Friday (peaking late Friday), then fade over the weekend. This is still pending full development over the next 24-36hrs, but at this point we're looking at chest-head high to overhead sets to show at the good northerly exposed breaks of Maui on Fri/Sat. Stay posted for updates!
Further out; a developing storm over the western rim of the Northwest Pacific may send over some small to modest NW swell (305-325°) for around Nov 4th-6th. Again, still pending development. |

The Maui PWA event is going now. Livestream seems more reliable and higher definition or at least sunnier today. Conditions look windier than AWT event yesterday, but maybe waves are not quite as good.
Check it out-

I'm over here now sailing and will be competing in the Grand Masters. This feels like the old days of the late 80's early 90's. A lot of excitement brought to you by Sam Bittner. She has single handedly brought back wave sailing to the premier wave sailing sites in the Americas.
You couldn't have asked for a better event (so far), and we all owe her and the AWT for probably losing some money for the good of our sport. Very exciting action for sure. |

I stopped at Ho'okipa this afternoon to watch the last few heats. While those were going on at the point, there was a lone sailor at Lanes just ripping it up. Turned out it was Robby Naish. He put on an absolute clinic out there. It was actually a better show than the contest. The guy is a master. |
